STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Two men face charges after authorities allege that raids in Stapleton and New Brighton netted more than 120 pills of oxycodone, about $7,500 in cash stuffed under a mattress and a gun.

Just days after the raids, police allegedly caught one of suspects, Nathaniel Winfield, 32, of the 200 block of Jersey Street, on the street in his home community of New Brighton with “a large quantity of narcotic drugs, namely oxycodone, with the intent to sell,” according to the criminal complaint based on an investigation by Narcotics Borough Staten Island.

The raids took place on March 4, when police executed a search warrant around 10 a.m. at the intersection of Van Duzer and Clinton streets in Stapleton. Officers allegedly found an orange pill bottle that contained 120 pills of oxycodone inside Winfield’s front sweater pocket. The small white pills were stamped RP20, according to the criminal complaint and police, the typical imprint for 20 mg tablets of oxycodone.

About an hour later, around 11:10 a.m., police armed with a search warrant entered the suspect’s home on Jersey Street near Carlyle Street in New Brighton. Cops seized three pink pills marked M10 from a dresser in Winfield’s bedroom. Under the suspect’s mattress, officers found $7,500 in cash, according to the criminal complaint and police.

Winfield was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, criminal possession of a narcotic drug, and criminal possession of a controlled substance in connection with the searches on March 4, according to the criminal complaint and police.

Then on March 10 around 11:10 a.m., officers spotted Winfield, this time at the intersection of Ely Street and Brighton Avenue in New Brighton. Police allegedly seized a large quantity of round, white oxycodone pills stamped 512, according to the criminal complaint and police.

Winfield allegedly ran away from police and resisted arrest by flailing his arms and refusing to be handcuffed, according to the criminal complaint and police.

The suspect was charged with criminal possession of a narcotic drug with intent to sell, criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and criminal possession of a controlled substance for the March 10 incident.

Winfield has been released under supervision and is due back in Criminal Court on both cases on April 11, according to public records.

An attorney for Winfield did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The Advance/SILive.com previously reported on the arrest of Brandon Patterson, 29, in connection with the same raid on Jersey Street on March 4. Officers allegedly found a loaded gun allegedly owned by Patterson in a laundry bag inside the home where both suspects lived.

Patterson was home when police allegedly found a 9mm Taurus gun with eight rounds in its magazine hidden in his bedroom, according to the criminal complaint and police.

The 29-year-old suspect was indicted on charges of criminal possession of a weapon that was a loaded firearm, criminal possession of a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon. He does not face any drug charges in connection with the raid, according to public records.

Patterson has been released under supervision and is due back in Supreme Court on April 13, according to public records.
