A local parolee sought on warrants was arrested late Friday in the parking lot of Walmart and allegedly found to be in possession of multiple drugs.

Travis Andrew Potts, 36, who lists a McAfferty Street address, was taken into custody shortly before 10 p.m. and charged with felony counts of possession of a controlled substance, meth, with purpose to deliver, punishable by up to 20 years in prison, and possession of drug paraphernalia, punishable by up to six years, and a misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance, marijuana, punishable by up to one year in jail.

Potts was being held on a zero bond and was set to appear Wednesday in Garland County District Court. According to court records, Potts was convicted in 2016 in Clark County of felony counts of breaking or entering and theft of property over $1,000 and sentenced to six years in prison, all suspended.

According to the probable cause affidavit, around 7:30 p.m. Friday, Hot Springs police Officer Chris Chapin was notified by HSPD detectives that Potts, who was wanted for parole violations, was sitting in a black pickup truck in the parking lot of Walmart, 1601 Albert Pike Road.

Officers arrived and located Potts in the driver's seat of the truck and took him into custody without incident. A computer check confirmed Potts had a valid search waiver on file which they explained to him and at that point, he reportedly stated that anything found in the truck belonged to him and not his girlfriend who was with him.

Inside the vehicle officers allegedly found $140 in cash in various denominations, a black digital scale, two glass pipes with meth residue, a plastic bag with 6.3 grams of what later tested positive for meth, 0.3 gram of marijuana in a plastic bag, a pill bottle with 5.6 grams of Suboxone pills and multiple sealable baggies "commonly used in the packaging of narcotics."

All the drugs were reportedly located in a black bag on the driver's seat where Potts had been located. The truck was towed and a hold was placed on it by the HSPD's Special Investigations Division for further processing.
