New Bedford Police Arrest City Couple for Fentanyl Dealing

NEW BEDFORD — A New Bedford couple has been arrested after city detectives allegedly found nearly 600 grams of fentanyl at their Nash Road home on Monday.

Police said 44-year-old Kenny Gonzalez and his girlfriend, 33-year-old Iliana Sanchez-Pagan, were arrested and charged with fentanyl trafficking and other offenses following the Sept. 19 search.

The detectives searched the Nash Road residence at around 2 p.m. Monday, allegedly finding a toolbox containing 33 plastic bags of fentanyl pills weighing 356 grams and 11 plastic bags of fentanyl powder weighing 237 grams — a total of 593 grams of the deadly drug.

Police said they also found cutting agent, digital scales, a ledger, and three cell phones.

Gonzalez has previously been found guilty of manslaughter, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and dealing a class A substance.

He is charged with trafficking 200 or more grams of fentanyl, possessing with intent to distribute a class A drug, conspiracy to violate the drug law, and being a career criminal.

Sanchez-Pagan is charged with trafficking 200 or more grams of fentanyl, conspiracy to violate the drug law, and a warrant arrest.
