Endangering Welfare of Children / REAP / DUI-Controlled Substance / Poss. of Controlled Substance / Poss. of Marijuana / Poss. of Drug Paraphernalia / Driving under suspension Arrest, July 5, 2022, Route 30 E at Harrisburg Pk (MT) – Akeem Leroy Miller, M/23 of Middletown, DE, was charged with the above offense following a report of a possible overdose of a driver that was incapacitated and unresponsive. Police located the vehicle and identified the driver as Miller. Miller was observed to have shallow, labored breathing, foam around the mouth, and pinpoint pupils. Due to the officer’s training with drug overdoses, she believed Miller was experiencing an opioid overdose. She administered Naloxone to Miller and had him transported to Lancaster General Hospital for treatment. The passenger in the vehicle's back seat said that Miller began to swerve and could no longer control the vehicle. She climbed over Miller, manipulating his leg and taking control of the steering wheel, in order to bring the vehicle to a safe stop on the shoulder of the highway. The passenger, being the registered owner, provided consent to have the vehicle searched. A prescription pill bottle was seized from the center console, with Miller’s name on it, containing a substance suspected to be marijuana. A blue plastic pen tube with a bluish-white powdery residue was also seized in the vehicle. Later, at the hospital, a plastic pen tube containing powdery residue was seized from Miller’s pants pocket. Miller admitted to purchasing the substance illegally and believed it to be Percocet, which Miller is not authorized to possess.
Miller was released pending the results of a blood test. Blood test results were received and the appropriate charges were to be filed. Contact with Miller ceased and he did not respond to further attempted contact by police.
A criminal complaint was filed and an arrest warrant was obtained. Akeem Leroy Miller remains a wanted person at this time.
