PARKERSBURG — The eighth annual Camden Clark Foundation Pink by Poolside will be held 7-10 p.m. today at the Parkersburg Country Club in Vienna.

The event, in advance of October and Breast Cancer Awareness Month, is part of the foundation’s fundraising initiatives for the Pink Mammogram Fund that provides free mammograms, diagnostics and biopsies to residents who are uninsured and underinsured.

All of the event’s proceeds will go toward providing the free services, said Kim Couch, executive director of the Camden Clark Foundation. Over the past 12 years, the foundation has enabled more than 2,000 free mammograms and hundreds of diagnostic tests to be provided to Mid-Ohio Valley residents.

Couch said she would happy to make $30,000 to $35,000 from the event. Organizations participating support the foundation because they know everything raised goes to the cause, she said.

“Every vendor is really, really good to us,” Couch said.

This is the first time the event has been held since 2019 because of the pandemic, Couch said.

Today’s event will feature cuisine from seven local caterers, each offering a variety, Couch said. Catering the event will be the Parkersburg Country Club, the Blennerhassett Hotel, Benny and Babe at the Buckley in Marietta, J’s BBQ and Grill, Cast Iron Catering, the dietary department from WVU Medicine Camden Clark and Valley Catering. The Little Stirr in Vienna is providing desserts.

The evening will include the Club Pink dance floor and a Wine Pull fundraiser, which raises enough money to perform another 20 mammograms, Couch said.

J.P. Henry’s sponsors the Wine Pull, where for a $20 donation the benefactor has a chance to pick a wrapped bottle of wine worth $100, she said. A hundred bottles of wine have been wrapped so no one knows what they are, Couch said.

Couch commended the more than 30 volunteers from the hospital who will help the evening’s festivities.

“It’s pretty amazing,” she said.

More than 300 tickets have been sold so far, Couch said. Sponsorships are available, and individual tickets are available for $100 each. Go to www.camdenclarkfoundation.org for details. It is encouraged that everyone wear something pink to join in the fun and bring awareness to efforts to defeat breast cancer.
